Promisec is one of Red Herring’s 15 security companies to watch. There are dozens of startups vying to become market leaders, but these firms are some of the best of the bunch. The biggest threats to networks these days are internal and largely the result of employees leaking sensitive information.
Promisec claims its “agentless” Promisec Spectator software not only detects but also prevents such internal threats, alerting the IT security manager in the case of unauthorized access or a violation of an organization’s regulations. The Israeli startup’s 2006 revenues topped $1 million in Israel, Japan, and Western Europe. Existing competitors use agent-based software and include Israel’s ControlGuard and Luxembourg’s SecureWave.
